What Should I Wear to a Brazilian Wax Appointment?

You booked the Brazilian. Now you’re standing in your closet wondering if there is somehow a correct outfit for getting your pubic hair ripped out.

Good news: you’re overthinking it.

There’s no Brazilian wax dress code. But what you wear after your appointment can make a difference in how comfortable your freshly waxed skin feels.

Here’s what we recommend.

Loose and Comfortable Is Best

If you have the option, wear something that isn’t super tight around your bikini area.

Think:

  • Loose pants

  • Joggers or sweatpants

  • A flowy dress or skirt

  • Loose shorts

  • Soft, breathable underwear

Your skin can be a little sensitive immediately after waxing, so tight clothing rubbing against the area isn’t exactly the treat it deserves afterward.

This does not mean you need to show up in your pajamas.

Although honestly, we wouldn’t judge that either. We might be wearing ours.

Can I Wear Leggings to a Brazilian Wax?

You can.

We’re not going to cancel your appointment because you walked in wearing Lululemon.

But if you have the choice between skin-tight leggings and something loose, we’d choose the loose option—especially for what you’re wearing home afterward.

Freshly waxed skin + heat + sweat + friction isn't our favorite combination. If you forget a change of clothes, just make sure to get comfy as soon as you get home.

What About Underwear?

Wear whatever underwear you normally feel comfortable in.

You’ll remove it for the actual Brazilian wax, so the style really doesn't matter during your appointment.

Afterward, breathable underwear that isn't digging into your bikini line is ideal. Some clients prefer looser cotton underwear after waxing, while others would rather skip it entirely under loose clothing.

You do you.

The goal is simply to avoid unnecessary rubbing against freshly waxed skin i.e., lace, thong, etc.

Can I Wear a Dress?

Absolutely.

A loose dress is actually a great option because there isn't much pressing or rubbing against the freshly waxed area afterward.

Just remember: you're still taking your underwear off for the wax.

The dress is not a magical loophole.

Nice try, though.

Do I Need to Change Clothes Before My Wax?

No.

Come in whatever you wore that day.

If you're coming straight from work, school, errands or wherever else life has taken you, that's completely fine.

You'll have privacy to undress from the waist down before we start your Brazilian.

You don't need to arrive in a special outfit or bring a change of clothes unless you personally want to.

What If I'm Coming Straight From the Gym?

This one we'd rather you avoid if possible.

Not because we're afraid of a little sweat. We wax human beings for a living. We know bodies sweat.

The bigger issue is your skin.

Working out creates heat, sweat and friction, and we recommend avoiding workouts for about 24 hours after a Brazilian wax. If you can schedule your workout before your appointment, shower and give your skin some time to cool down before coming in, even better.

And please don't plan your 5:00 Brazilian followed by your 6:00 hot yoga class.

Your freshly waxed skin would like to formally decline that invitation.

What Should I Wear After a Brazilian Wax?

This is really the more important question.

For the first 24 hours after your wax, think cool, clean and low-friction.

Loose clothing is your friend.

We also recommend avoiding things that create extra heat, sweat or friction right after waxing, including intense workouts, hot showers, pools and saunas.

Your follicles just went through something.

Give them a minute.

Do I Need to Buy Anything Special?

Nope.

You do not need a designated Brazilian wax outfit.

You don't need special underwear.

And you definitely don't need to panic-buy an entirely new wardrobe because you booked a 20-minute appointment.

Wear something comfortable and, when possible, avoid super tight clothing afterward.

That's really it.

Your Brazilian Wax Doesn't Need to Be Complicated

We see a lot of first-time clients worry about tiny details because they don't know what they're “supposed” to do before a Brazilian.

What should I wear?

Should I shower right before?

Should I trim?

What underwear should I wear?

What if I'm coming from work?

We promise there isn't a secret Brazilian wax etiquette handbook everyone else received.

Come clean, come with enough hair for us to wax, and wear something you'll be comfortable in afterward.

We'll take it from there.
