FAQs

licensed estheticians show funny attitude and comfortability
  • We get SO many clients that say they were never told how to avoid ingrown hairs or how to care for their skin after the wax. They are also not told why they need to keep coming back. We are different from so many others because one of the most important aspects of the whole waxing process is EDUCATION. We teach you why it is important to stay consistent, how important aftercare is, how to get the best results, and how to prepare before you even come in. Having an educated, comfortable, and confident client is our number one priority!

    • GROW THE HAIR OUT (your hair should be at least the length of a grain of rice; 3-4 weeks of hair growth). If it is longer, don’t worry. If we need to trim, we will. That sounds like it would be weird but most people don’t even realize we’re doing it.

    • Take a shower the night before your appointment & gently exfoliate the area (scrub, exfoliating glove, dry brush)

    • Plan your outfit accordingly. Comfort is key… loose, breathable clothing is best. Feel free to bring a clean pair of underwear for after.

    • If getting a Brazilian Wax: Get comfortable with being exposed. To wax the front, we will put you in a butterfly/diamond position, and to wax the back, we will have you bring your knees to your chest (think Happy Baby yoga pose) or lie on your side and lift your top leg. If you are comfortable you can get on all fours or lie flat on your stomach and hold one cheek. As long as we can access the hair, we don’t really care the position.

    • Be prepared to do aftercare. Exfoliating 2-3 times a week. Wax on a consistent cycle every 4-6 weeks. Potentially purchase aftercare products and apply them daily. All of this is absolutely necessary if you want the smoothest results! We go over all of this in more detail during your first appointment, give you an aftercare instruction card and a kit with supplies to get you by.

  • We have several techniques and strategies to get you through any discomfort and we walk you through every step of the way.

If you’re very nervous about pain, avoid caffeine for a few hours before your appointment. Taking 1-2 Ibuprofen or Tylenol an hour before your appointment may be a good idea for you. Being hydrated is very important and will make waxing more comfortable. Gently exfoliating the area to be waxed 24-48 hours before the wax will help ensure a smooth wax. The sensation of waxing is a stinging feeling and it passes very quickly. We always put our hand down on your skin after removing a strip to help diminish the sting as quickly as possible. We also talk and ask you a lot of questions to keep you distracted.

  • First off, we aren’t here to judge anyone. On average we complete 12-22 Brazilian Waxes each day - looking at private areas is truly just a part of our job.

Second, we aren't even really looking at your body parts, we are looking at your hair; trying to strategize the quickest and most efficient way to remove it.

We will talk to you the entire time and it will be over before you know it. It feels as awkward as an eyebrow wax. i.e., not awkward at all. Most of our clients by their 3rd appointment are so comfortable, they have their pants off before we’ve even locked the door.

  • Absolutely, we love our preggo mama’s! You can be more sensitive during pregnancy so the sooner you can get started, the better off it will be. We have ways of positioning you so you are comfortable, please put into the waiver form how far along you are so we can have the room ready to go when you arrive.

  • Yes! Some people are more sensitive during their lady time, but it can also be a few days before or after. Taking a Tylenol or Ibuprofen an hour prior to your appointment should help combat any extra sensitivities (if you are a person that takes these).

We only require that you wear a fresh tampon or reusable cup during any Bikini/Brazilian appointments - we always have tampons and personal wipes available in the bathroom if you need to freshen up beforehand.

  • For most body areas, a schedule of every 4-6 weeks is best. Underarms and facial areas can be waxed every 2-3 weeks. The hair needs to be at least the length of a grain of rice in order for the wax to be able to grab it. If you can get ahold of the hair with your fingertips (not fingernails) it should be long enough. We will always do our absolute best to get rid of all hair without compromising the skin.

  • Aftercare is 80% of your results.

We can not emphasize this enough. We can do everything perfectly right but if you leave us and go straight to the gym, hot tub, tanning, host a red light special, etc. you will most likely breakout in bacteria filled bumps. If you don’t listen to our rule of not exfoliating for 48 hours, you could break open all those bumps and spread the bacteria. Now that I’ve hopefully sufficiently scared you straight, here’s some education:

Removing hair completely from the follicle causes brand new hair to grow. These new baby hairs will be finer, softer, and weaker, making it more difficult for them to break through the skin’s surface if there is anything blocking their path (dead skin, oil, dirt, etc.). Exfoliating regularly will ensure the hair's pathway is clear. Moisturizing will help lubricate the path, making your next wax less painful.

Soon enough all this will be routine and won’t be a big deal at all. It can sound like a lot but it’s WAY less than shaving everyday, being itchy, dealing with razor burn, etc. It’s all worth it, we promise!

  • We work a couple different days (Wednesday/Thursday, Saturday/Sunday) so scheduling may be your deciding factor.

Otherwise, there's not a huge difference. We learned to wax together, worked at a speed waxing chain together, our skills/level of experience are basically the same.

We have some clients that rotate between us. We are not in competition with each other and have no hard feelings if someone chooses one of us over the other. Give us both a try and see who you mesh with best!

We are true Millennials and despise talking on the phone, but we can usually shoot off a quick text in between clients so feel free to reach out!

Reasons You Should NOT Be Waxed

  • These can make your skin more sensitive. Thin, sensitive skin is more vulnerable to lifting and sensitivity during waxing:

    • Accutane - this is an absolute no, no. Your skin will come off with the wax.

    • Any prescription acne meds

    • Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic) over 8%

    • Oral Antibiotics

    • Topical Antibiotics

    • Retinol

    • Any Acid based products

    • You have Lupus or AIDS

    • Cancer therapy, receiving radiation or chemo

    • No waxing on sunburnt skin

    • No waxing on irritated areas

    • You must wait at least 7 days before waxing after a light chemical peel or microdemabrasion*

    • No waxing if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past year*

    • No waxing if you have had a physician administered peel within the past two (2) years*

    • You have diabetes

*If you aren’t sure if it’s ok to wax after a procedure, the best person to ask is the service provider.

    • Tanning (tanning beds or laying out in the sun) 24 hours prior to your appointment

    • Taking blood-thinning medications

    • Taking prednisone or steriods

    • Psoriasis, Eczema, or other chronic skin diseases

    • Severe varicose leg veins

    • Rosacea or very sensitive skin

    • History of cold sores or fever blisters (waxing can cause flare up)

    • Using hydroquinone

    • You’re pregnant, taking birth control, hormone replacement, or antibiotics. Your skin may be more sensitive to waxing - let your esthetician know!

    • Drinking alcohol the day of or night before waxing. Alcohol causes the blood to rise to the surface of the skin and can cause the skin to bruise more easily.
