💕 Ingrown Hairs 101: How to Prevent & Treat Them Between Waxes
Let’s talk about the little devils of the waxing world: ingrown hairs. 😩
You’re smooth, glowing, feeling yourself — and then a few days later… a bump appears. Ugh.
At Bare Beauty Wax Studio, we’re obsessed with fighting ingrowns like the girl gang we are 💪💖 — here’s how to keep your skin clear and smooth between waxes.
👩🏫 What Are Ingrown Hairs?
Ingrowns happen when a hair grows sideways or curls back into the skin instead of up and out.
They can look like little red bumps, sometimes itchy or even painful.
And here’s the kicker — they’re super common after shaving or waxing if your skin isn’t properly cared for afterward.
💡 Why Do Ingrowns Happen?
1️⃣ Dead skin cells trap new hairs underneath
2️⃣ Tight clothing or friction (leggings 👀) cause irritation
3️⃣ Dry skin makes it harder for hair to break through
4️⃣ Shaving between waxes throws off your growth cycle
💅 How to Prevent Ingrowns Like a Pro
✨ Exfoliate: Start exfoliating 2–3 times a week (once the skin has healed post-wax). Use a gentle sugar scrub, mitt, or our fave — ingrown pads.
✨ Hydrate: Apply a light, oil-free moisturizer daily. Hydrated skin lets hair grow freely.
✨ Skip shaving: It messes up your hair’s growth pattern.
✨ Wear loose clothing after waxing to avoid friction.
🧴 How We Prevent Them at Bare Beauty
We prep every client’s skin with The Lady Peng pre-wax oil so the wax grips the hair, not your skin — that alone minimizes irritation and helps prevent ingrowns from the start.
We also use hospital-grade CaviCide to disinfect everything (because bacteria is not invited to this glow party).
💖 If You Get an Ingrown…
✔️ Don’t pick or squeeze (tempting, we know 😅)
✔️ Use a warm compress + gentle exfoliation
✔️ Apply an ingrown treatment serum or salicylic acid pad
If one gets painful or infected, see your esthetician or dermatologist.
